Australian FUNK. Very soulful, somber vocal performance. Non-vocal performance is excellent. Several tracks have that low-fi funk song effect. To be completely honest, I do not enjoy Emma Donovan or even her backup. But I'm a huge fan of what The Putbacks are doing here. RIYL Sharon Jones, The Bamboos, Alice Russell. FCC clean.

1. ***(5:09) Sassy, wah-wah guitar intro. Very funky, soulful. Bad backup vocals.
2. *****(3:57) Excellent arrangement, not low-fi. Great breakdown towards end. Heavy organ use.
3. ***(3:54) Twinkling keys, longing tone, nothing special.
4. ****(5:38) Slow, quiet percussion. Spacious and seductive. Gets bluesy @ 1/2.
5. **(3:49) Faster. Driving funk. Donovan fails to match pace or mood of song. More distortion, effects.
6. ****(4:20) Upbeat, medium speed. Cheery, encouraging. Perhaps the best vocal performance.
7. *****(5:19) Slow, quiet percussion intro. Begging lover to come back. Gets way more interesting @2:00. Again, I do like the vocal performance here.
8. ***(3:44) Vocals good again. A little upbeat.
9. *****(4:58) Vocals good again. Percussion is only bongos in intro. Picks up @ 1:47. Ideal way to end an album... or a radio show?
