Upsetter

Nathan Amundson (the leader of Rivulets) took a sharp left turn when he dropped the ultra-minimal Western Songs earlier in 2015. If anything, this new release is even farther out there. It’s 43 minutes of deep, ominous, majestic, heavily layered drone—almost like an extremely long intro to an atmospheric black metal album. Amundson’s put together a star cast: Jessica Bailiff (solo artist on Kranky), Chris Brokaw (Codeine and The New Year, to start), and Bob Weston (Shellac). Perfect late night music to soothe half of your listeners and scare the hell out of the other half. One track, no words, no FCCs.
