Awesome high-energy noise pop.
Second album from these noisy, angry (in the best way) Welsh rockers. Most songs stick to the same formula: killer riffs and dangerously sweet harmonies interspersed with powerful bursts of yelling and fuzzed out dissonance. Sad to hear frontwoman Alanna McArdle is leaving because she gives it her all on every track. I wish her vocals were a little more decipherable because I think it’d enhance these songs. In the end there just aren’t as many highs as there were on Weird Sister, but it’s all still catchy, consistent and true to their unique style.

FCC on 10. Others may be hidden under fuzz, but I didn’t catch ‘em.

Recommended: 5, 7, 8, 10(FCC), 6, 3, 1

*(2:53) fast. cold open w/ sunny day scratchy riffs, Alanna yells passionately throughout. “I will not! I will not!” strange chorus that’s twee sweetness vs. crazed dissonant chaos. so- very JG.
(1:42) mid. more thrashy/sugary goodness. just a good pop song with an edge.
*(1:52) med-fast. thrashing cattiness, transitions to lovely bridge and harmonies. actually this feels like a clearer version of #1
(1:58) med-fast. breathy twee, etc etc.. are 1-4 all just one long song? I mean this in a good way I guess, because they are so consistent.
**(3:10) mid. slower open with an awesome riff alternated with pounding drums, chant-like vocals and feedback. 90s easygoing feel. a welcome change.
**(2:15) fast. feedback. very slightly softer and wistful even but still pretty upbeat and bouncy
**(1:39) med-fast. perfect. another great riff. keeping it down a notch.
**(2:00) fast. wistful, toned down punky, looking back at relationship stuff. “life would be all right if I hadn’t met you/we could spend every single night in separate bedrooms”
(2:08) fast. blistering intro and screaming dissolves into deceptive sweetness. again like #1.
**(2:03) FCC SHIT slow-mid. soft ending: disarmingly sweet, and stripped down by their standards.
