South African Flute player with great sound; traditional and new tunes set to fairly complex orchestration; some of this is a bit shlocky (esp. #8); some easy listening; and some genuinely interesting and beautiful
no FCC's
1-(5:18) Aishwarya – opens mysteriously with beautiful flute tune, opens out into more orchestration with flute tune; adds percussion
*2-(3:50) Winter – nice rendition of one of Vivaldi's seasons-- with Soweto Gospel Choir
3-(3:06) Si Do Mhaimeo – Irish jig with orchestration
4-(3:32) Up To the Mountain – American Gospel Tune with flute and piano adding in other instruments
*5-(3:32) Zininzi- nice lively opening, interesting mix of sounds including beautiful African harmonies w/young singers
6-(3:10) Solo Tu/Still Life – contemplative flute opening; waltz rhythm, flute & guitar
*7-(4:13) To Tango Tis Nefelis – starts with guitar tango rhythm; very pretty rendition of this tune w/female singer coming in with lyrics
8-(4:58) Turning Page – from the Twilight Saga – breathy-voiced singer with the expected lyrics
9-(4:34) Shenandoah – I love this tune; but I don't love all the frosting on this version
*10-(5:50) Guajira – starts with nice guitar figures and flourishes; flute comes in with tune; some flamenco, simple
*11-(6:14) Notre Futur – vocal in African-flavored French with guitar and flute; quiet; pretty
*12-(5:46) The Long Road – tribute to Nelson Mandela's life; really interesting flute textures and sounds
*13-(4:03)Ek Verlang Na Jou –old Afrikaans pop song rendered in flute, guitar & vocals
*14 (4:37) Love Gets Old- romantic violin and flute underpinned by piano chords
