Almost a Simon and Garfunkel of the Middle East? Very influential and popular band from Egypt. VERY accessible for Westerners although all lyrics are in Arabic. Some synth, electric guitar, drum set, echoey sound. Songs feature beautiful, dynamic transitions from upbeat to down. Check out 4,6,7. 1. (3:34) *** Slow, almost no percussion, soft, male voice with some background tones 2. (4:13) **** Medium, Sounds a little “epic.” Picks up @ :51 w/ drums, echoey electric guitar, synth 3. (4:46) ** Medium, more Arab flavor, more percussion @ 1:10. 4. (3:21) ***** This is basically “Every little thing is gonna be alright” paraphrased for Arabs. I like it. 5. (4:42) ** Soft, sweet, “We return to the street together.” 6. (3:52) ***** DIFFERENT. Dance beat. Super weird lyrics, if translated. 7. (3:53) **** Upbeat, dance. Lyrics are ‘Carpe diem’ theme, or ‘lose yourself to the music.’ 8. (3:27) *** Very Arab. Upbeat. 9. (4:21) ** Cheesy ballad style. Nothing special. 10. (4:42) **** Arab style. Med/Fast. Builds. Social commentary. Dynamic song. 11. (4:59) *** Arab punk rock. “The television is bad.” 12. (4:45) *** Dance remix of Track 3. |
