Electro-acoustic music from an American born musician who calls himself Narayan Sijan. He has traveled widely to produce these fusion pieces meant to evoke Eastern landscapes; nice variety of sounds, melodies, timbres

NO FCC's detected; Favorite tracks: 3, 4, 6, 8

1-The Journey-(5:50) – textured and layered string piece with percussion and drone background

2-Schirin-5:22-- original composition with words of Sufi poem recited Arabic folded into it

*3- River Bend -(7:06)- starts off mysteriously with saz and drones and adds wondrous textures; inspired by crossing the Bosphorus

*4-The Road to Hijaz (3:44) – Nice springy percussive start with drums and oud in the Hijaz mode; amalgam of songs heard on the road; evocative of the Arabian peninsula

5- Caspian Sea (9:17) – music inspired by traveling on the Karakoram Highway with Sufi poem lines woven in

*6-Upon My Own Hand (4:21) – sounds Turkish or Kurdish; pretty song with nice springy beat; you can “see” the starry sky described in the individual high treble notes

7-Desert Water (7:14) –Inspired by Rajasthan, with Indian (not sure what language) lyrics and Indian-sounding instrumentation

*8-High Mountain (6:07) – Inspired by Jerusalem and Mount Zion; marching rhythm; somber
