meditative layered and looped vocals with minimal droney cello, discordant piano, or droney synth. another good one from goddess julianna barwick. it didn’t always take me to a magic place but it has some great moments and features some new things like cello, occasional male vocal accompaniment and lyrics you can listen for. i think it is more pessimistic than her previous two releases. number 2 is the one i will return to the most.

track 1 (2:14) – haunting vocals set the tone for the record, beautiful cello in the last minute, ends too soon
***track 2 (5:35) – pulsating synth throughout, strong bass adds volume, beautiful drone vocals, feels like driving at night through fog
track 3 (4:09) – vocals drone over piano, some cello about 2 minutes in
track 4 (4:56) – synth drone comes on strong, male/female vocals two minutes in
track 5 (2:41) – noisy, less refined, and claustrophobic. ends abruptly
*track 6 (5:30) – a steady tone crescendos until female and male vocal loops multiply and piano is introduced along with bass. then everything subtracted until its just the bass
*track 7 (3:58) – sparse, interesting piano, vocals and cello come in after a minute
*track 8 (4:41) – comes on strong with thick layered vocals and keeps layering. male vocals half way through
**track 9 (5:04) – bladerunner! bleep bloop, organic percussion, distinguishable lyrics
