Jenks Miller & Rose Cross NC Blues From WHAT Reviewed by BravoMarco Three Lobed Recordings Jenks Miller has produced a genre splitting spectacular. Krautrock, Experimental, R&B & more, all combined with a healthy dose of Psychedelic flourishes. The first three tracks are pretty much continuous & then go their own way. Like: Bardo Pond, The Numbers Band (15-60-75) Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (sort of) All four tracks are mighty fine. No FCC’s (minimal vocals) 1) Reaching Never Reaching (3.29) Slow build, more of an intro to the rest of the tracks. Mild spacey floaty feedback restrained energy. (The Doors – The End-esque) 2) Yellowtail (Blues From WHAT) (8.09) Carries straight on from the previous with much more rockin’ tendencies though. Head nodder from the outset until a gradual more stoner feel takes over. 3) From Nothing To WHAT (10.19) A slowish grind, not in the sense of it being a chore, just a great grinding slow paced assault. 4) Scrying In Water (20.30) Trancey, meditative qualities. Slow paced with that edgey underbelly. Organs get into the mix halfway through. Floating away into a haze until 5 minutes remaining, it then goes up a notch before bringing it back down with soothing vocals. | ||
