Pat Battstone & Kit Demos
From Dream to Dream
An excellent duo with a wide spectrum of styles. They slide from a new age/ECM approach to straight jazz to avant-garde free jazz
If you like: Ralph Towner, George Winston, Eberhard Weber, Cecil Taylor
FCCs: none
Favorite Tracks: The Gables, Au Marche aux Puges, Mysterium, Metamorphosis of a Daydream
1. Bass opens, new age jazz> series of crescendos
2. New age jazz> slow improve
3. Avant-garde> bowed bass, I believe Battstone is plucking the inside of his piano
4. Slow improve
5. Slow> builds to midtempo
6. Avant-garde
7. Slow improv > bowed bass and piano
8. Avant-garde > bass starts, more accessible
9. Avant-garde > bass starts
10. Avant-garde > utilizes backward notes
11. Slow contemplative improv > builds to midtempo crescendo then fades
12. George Winston-like solo
13. Short Monk-like jam
14. Avant-garde > slow minimalist opening with bowed bass & reverse notes
15. ECM-like slow improv
16. Avant-garde > push and pull between bass & piano with flurries of notes
17. Slow improv> references “When You Wish Upon a Star”.
