Beauty Within
Genre: Jazz
Everything but the kitchen sink! These guys are all over the map with a variety of styles, but all played well: bop, free jazz, ECM. Branker is actually the composer.
FCCs: none
If You Like: John Coltane, Jan Garbarek, Thelonious Monk, Lyle Mays, Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin
Favorite Tracks: Beauty Within, Many Roads Beneath the Sky,
People Everywhere
Track Review:
1/ hard bop transitions to ECM transitions to Mahavisnu-like free jazz, sounds like Monk jamming with Roland Kirk 2/ slow bass solo starts>
ECM jam> increases in tempo & intensity> slow fade 3/ piano start into midtempo jam with sax leading, wild piano solo transitions to slow jam
4/ heavy piano chords solo (short) 5/ midtempo atonal jam 6/ piano/bass Start, great sax & guitar solos> slow fade 7/ piano trio jam 8/ uptempo jam, sudden end 9/ piano starts, midtempo jam> slow jam
