Yael Naim, born in 1978 in Paris to Sephardic Jews from Tunisia who emigrated to Israel; Singer/songwriter sings mostly in English; sometimes also in French and Hebrew; has a sound and style somewhat similar to the Ibeyi sisters (from Paris and Cuba); serious existentialism of lyrics contrast with mostly light arrangements and strong rhythm; lots of variety here; truly lovely

No FCC's; Favorite tracks: 1, 4, 6, 7, 8

*1-- I walk until (3:01) – in English – “I walk until teardrops” – beautiful accompaniment – andante with effervescent percussion

2- Make a child (3:25) – soft rock with high soprano lyrics and floaty accompaniment;

3—Dream in my head (4:34) – starts out with blues-y beat; mysterious existential lyrics

*4 – Coward (4:28) – interesting art song – sung poetry with ethereal harmony

5-Trapped (3:34) – channeling a little Janis here

*6- Ima (3:34) – Hebrew, Creole, and English lyrics about origin of life; sweet, quiet, pointillist

*7 – Walk walk (2:36) – rhythmic, light, bouncy with clapping and harmony

*8- Take me down (3:14) – modern feminist love song

9- older (3:18) –impressions of aging, with a light touch, but sad too

10-meme iren song (3:05) – background speaking voices to evocative piece about life passing
