British electric guitar legend Jeff Beck has teamed up with singer Rosie Bones and guitarist Carmen Vandenberg of the group Bones in the effort to “redefine his sound,” whatever that means. While each track still has smatterings of his insane shredding with a twangy, bluesy feel, they also have often distracting lyrics spouting revolutionary rhetoric (yeah!). An interesting effort, hit or miss. Sometimes I just wanted to enjoy JB taking that guitar to town.

2. (3:47) Energetic, creative guitar riffs with not too much vox spoiling them. Heavy beat, uptempo.
3. (2:09) Instrumental. A slow build, like revving up a motor, guitars sputtering out.
4. (5:15) FCC! “fuck” More female spoken word/attempts at bluesy crooning making fun of the British government.
5. (6:07) A slow ballad with a heartfelt solo around 4 min. Vox praying for the future.
6. (3:57) A harder rocker of a track all about impatience for fame.
7. (4:40) A downtempo, 60s-style, blues-influence lament.
8. (1:03) Short, downtrodden, whining, crying guitar interlude.
9. (3:50) An ominous rocker that could be a great soundtrack to a drama. Great vox.
10. (4:41) A funky ode to our obsession with and reliance upon oil.
11. (5:47) Praying to the God in rock and roll. A slow tambourine beat and actual singing makes it a little campy.
