Talented Monterey-based musician Dave Holodiloff plays covers of standard Dead tunes. Dave and his band have played a regular Dead show at Don Quixote's in Felton for the past few years; even if you're not a Dead Head you might be drawn in by the verve and great musicality

No FCC's; Favorite tracks: 2, 4, 6, 7

1-Casey Jones (3:00) – lively, leads off with train whistle

*2-Friend of the Devil (5:34) – great banjo, mandolin and fiddle solos

3-I Know You Rider (2:58) – banjo sets fast tempo, nice duet

*4-Franklin's Tower (4:29) – starts with Dave's signature percussive mando; catchy!

5-Uncle John's Band (5:31) – pretty straightforward lyrically and instrumentally except for minor key swerves; nice bridge midway segues into a little a cappella

*6-Scarlet Begonias (5:37) – mandolin and voice; nice treble line; great bridge in the middle

*7-Mountains of the Moon (7:56) – Dave's tenor voice and Steve Ucello's bass complement each other; intense mandolin and fiddle at end
