Claybank is four religious guys, a mandolin, a banjo, a guitar, a bass, four voices and some serious bluegrass. They play both upbeat traditional banjo dominant bluegrass and slower ballads, more like folk music with a religious rather than political tone. The two lead vocalists ( Zack and Jacob, 16 and 17 respectively!!) alternate with the singing duties, with band mates Gary and Tyler harmonizing as well, and all these voices give the songs a surprising variety. The album both begins and ends on a strong bluegrass note, giving a hint as to their genesis. Traditional bluegrass: 1,5,12. My faves: 2, 7, 9.
