Subtle Body

Drone/ambient. Deep, rich drone coming out of Oakland. Great combination of organic instruments and synth, with lots of organ and trombone. The use of trombone in the second half of track #1 is particularly striking...a horn echoing across a vast landscape. This is great stuff.

Recommended: both. No FCCs.

1) “Blessing & Embodiment” (10:48): Harsh, sort of crackling guitar. Gradually increases in richness...voices in the distance, blown on the wind. Becomes a blown-out barren landscape, big horns.
2) “Desire & Dissolution” (10:58): Deep refrigerator drone, breathtaking in intensity. Quavers up and down. Becomes harsher in the second half, like some kind of storm is brewing. Noise dissolves into something more serene.

Sunken Cathedral // Subtle Body

A dreamy, constantly and smoothly evolving, sometimes tense, effort from Sunken Cathedral, the solo project of Bay Area musician Ryan Jobes. Encircling guitar with evolving pads, with curveballs like trombones and pure noise dropped in. No discernable vocals no FCC.
