A multi-faceted, electronic music outing from UK producer Zomby. A minimalist experimentalist at heart, Zomby rarely pursues fully fleshed out songs. He follows an individual idea for the course of a track and then apparently drops it for the rest of the album. These chopped, creaking, cranky tunes vary from distorted R&B to low-fi jungle to vaporwavey bliss. A general icy feeling abounds.

Genre: Post-dubstep Jungle, ‘Electronic’, Grime, eskibeat
RIYL: Burial, Ital Tek, Demdike Stare, Andy Stott
Favorite Tracks: 3, 6, 7 (FCC), 9, 12
FCCs: Track 7
Reflection (4:59) - gun shots, twinkling blips, the scene is set
Swaggering bravado of instrumental with spacey spoken sample
Burst (2:03) - consistently avoids a consistent beat
Fly 2 (5:28)* - Rhythmic chopped vocals with buzzing breathing creating awesome sound scapes, verges on an almost danceable beat. Slow down at 2:25 kinda annoying
E.S.P. (3:00) - dark strings, shaky percussion
I (2:03) - “I” sample, cool drum line, nice idea
Glass (4:29)** - dancey bass line, clapping percussion, really hits its stride
Sweetz (6:58)* - (FCC Fuck throughout) Unfortunately no way of cleaning this, great influence of Burial on this pondering track
Her (4:52) - spacey, cool synth builds
Quandary (4:20)* - Nice! Plucky, bouncy, oooo, really strong kick and loop at 2:15
Freeze (2:17) - song name solid descriptor, icy synths, shattered beats
Yeti (2:18) - thematically similar to previous track, shards of icy computer waste
S.D.Y.F (5:33)* - Love the percussion on this, some great jungle with spacey synths
Thaw (3:57) - warm thawing of the ice? Drumless spacey
Tenkyuu (3:39) - rain with ghostly close, echoing, conveying of large cavernous spaces
