Bela Fleck, “Juno Concerto" Label: Rounder Records Reviewed by DJ Kimberlicious (Kim Walter), May 2017 Considered the world’s premier banjo player, Bela Fleck transcends musical genres and eradicates preconceived notions about where the banjo belongs. This is a concerto for banjo and orchestra, recorded with the Colorado Symphony on tracks 1-3 and with Brooklyn Rider Indie rock string quartet. Really a nice comparison of a banjo within an orchestra and a banjo within a string quartet. I really had no idea of the real possibilities of a banjo before this. Every track is great! 1.11:15 Three orchestral movements that demonstrate the value and 2. 9:42 worth of the banjo with the Symphony 3. 8:41 4. 14:37 Two selections played with the Brooklyn Rider String 5. 6:31 Quartet, demonstrating how the banjo works in conjunction with other strings in a playful and entertaining way. | ||
