Sixth CD from world fusion band with strong Indian and jazz components; very smooth; eminently listenable No FCC's (all instrumental) Favorite Tracks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 *1 – Jazzy Streets of Mumbai – 8:39 – dreamy beginning circles around with sitar and keyboard, tabla kicks in, ethereal glissandos periodically punctuate; speeds up a little and gets a groove going *2—The Chase – 8:26-- tabla picks up pace with opening chords; compelling beat and melody *3—Without Borders –6:52 – slow and lush sitar beginning; opens out to almost ambient status and then acquires a hypnotic beat; speeds up and slows down *4 –Memory Lane – 8:32 – has a sort of Celtic melody in back of Indian tabla and sitar; strongly rhythmic as it goes up and down scale in ¾ time; sax comes in and adds even more texture *5 –Starry Gaze –7:07-- more downward glissandos introduce this piece which segues perfectly from the previous track; has more of a jazz than Indian feel although the tabla is right there; sax adds its voice 6 –Adolescence –10:42 – starts off with jazz solo accompanied by keyboard and then segues to Indian vibe in conversation with the sax and heads into dreamier realms 7 –Keys of Resolve – 5:17-- starts with western style chords with tabla underneath; most standard sounding track 8—Rhythmic Paths – 11:43-- long tabla solo and conversation with other types of percussion | ||
