Amber Cross - Savage on the Downhill

I semi-randomly chose this album to review because of the title “Savage on the Downhill.” I thought it had something to do with the singer, but it’s really the way for a tracker to carry a rifle when going downhill. Interesting. Literal. Life isn’t usually so straight-forward. Her voice is immediately familiar and comforting and I realized why: she sounds like Belinda Carlisle with a twang. I liked: 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10

4:24 1*. Med - reminded me of traveling tunes
3:59 2. Slow/Med - vocally dominant, nice images
3:51 3*. Med - Nice strumming, feel of great outdoors, title track about hunting
3:48 4. Med - country rock- saddle music
4:55 5*. Slow - Songwriter/ballad - story
2:40 6*. Slow - gentle guitar/ vocals -storytelling tradition
5:00 7. Med - Country rock ala Emmylou
3:40 8. Slow - country ballad
3:41 9*. Med - Country rock - but unique, more indie sound
4:09 10**. Slow - Most unique song; harmonies, trail music, slow electric guitar
