Some knotty weighty minimalist syncopations, great stuff for the sound system or the headphones (so a perfect Hessle Audio release). In the past, Shelley Parker's done more ambient leaning sound design work, and it shows in the spooky and sometimes humid atmospheres here. "The tracks match skeletal breakbeats and looming sub bass with processed field recordings from both her choreography work and echoes of Carnival from her flat." Been on repeat for me the last 6 weeks or so.

1. Red Cotton - 4:56 - slowly rising greyscale atmosphere creeping up around stalking half-time kicks. slowly and repeatedly becomes overwhelming and then backs off, occasionally in double-time. imposing and easy to get lost in, best thing on here.
2. Angel Oak - 5:14 - trades in similar shivering subwoofer sounds as the former one, but more color, more clank, and more downtempo vibes, and more amorphous pools of bass.
3. Angel Oak (Ploy Remix) - 5:22 - a somewhat bleepier and more minimalist remix of the prior track, amplifies the clanky syncopations and dubby percussion. sorta splits the difference between tracks 1 and 2?
4. Masonry Pier - 5:42 - warm hazy atmospheres from the jump, eventually snapping syncopated machine funk enters, along with new layers of pleasant warm haze. heavier half-time kicks and occasional dulcet bass pulses in the latter half.
