The eponymous debut album from Chicago's Deeper is refreshing, anxious, and entrancing all at once. Beginning with the sharp guitar chimes of "Pink Shower," the album promises a newly interpreted take on something slightly familiar, coated with a subtle vibrato warble impersonating warped vinyl playback. The post punk base with flavorings of pop punk added to the mix is a welcomed assortment. With a consistent sound and a no-frills approach to presentation, the Chicago quartet’s self-titled debut album Deeper proves the hard work has finally paid off.

Play: 1, 3, 4, 7

.Pink Showers (2:33) Poppy song with harsh bell-like tones.
.Should Be (2:26) Trebly guitar chimes far more cohesive than repetitive.
.Transmogrified (3:18) Edgy cut full of sinewy guitar leads and distressing imagery.
.Pavement (4:26) Dreamy energy remains consistently high throughout this track.
.Message Erased (2:54) Exchange between the guitars, the eccentric drones.
.KG (2:06) Jaunty, mid-tempo feeling of passive aggression.
.Feels (2:03) Guitar-centric indie rock with few frills or extroverted gestures.
.Taxi (2:43) Subtle dance between guitarists takes center stage as the two push and pull against each other.
.Trust (3:47) Chiming guitar interplay, worn-in indie rock.
