Hazy, minimal meditation blues. Dark but comforting. Frontman of Chicago ambient-slowcore band Zelienople, here with the 70-somethingth release on his solo Bandcamp. Just guitars and pensive, patient vocals. The guitar sounds here are especially beautiful, with electrified acoustic strumming that ripples and shimmers, and subtle desert electric guitar drones and soloing on top. RIYL Jason Molina’s solo albums, Rivulets, Boduf Songs. Favorites: 1, 2, 5. No FCCs detected.
1. *(4:40)—Mid-tempo, gentle. Long instrumental intro. Really nice muted guitar solo.
2. *(5:37)—Medium-slow, a little bluesy. Synth-like drones on top. Noisy, tortured finish.
3. (5:09)—Medium-fast. Faded, echoing vocals. Background sounds.
4. (5:46)—Slow, misty. Slow and really bent guitar soloing.
5. *(6:05)—Mid-tempo fingerpicking. Sad character sketch. Subtle dynamic builds.
6. (7:03)—Slow. Very soft beginning. Smeary soloing.
