– General Description: Your basic late night sway-in-the-dark industrial music. Gudrun Gut is very Berlin and this work is approachable. If you’re into whispery mezzo (read sultry) mostly spoken female voice — this is your ticket! She doesn’t sing, she speaks in a mostly monotone delivery with lots of reverb. Knowing German could help . . . maybe. But it doesn't matter. Worth a listen (preferably late at night) because it definitely creates a mood of Teutonic libido.
– FCC Compliant: YES
– Recommended Tracks: 3, 6, 8, 14
– Track Reviews:
1. (5:56) Startup Loch - moderate tempo; whispery vocals with basic rhythm track underneath, no biggie
2. (3:38) Musik - moderate tempo; pizzicato blip sounds over rhythm track with same vocal style above
3. ***(1:12) Shuttle Service - moderate tempo; pizzicato blip sounds over rhythm track
4. (0:43) Seltene Erde (rare earth) - fuzzy playing about with electronic sounds, no focus
5. (3:44) Baby I Can Drive My Car - airy and eerie start; medium-fast tempo; repeated phrase in two different octaves and some phased harmonics
6. ***(3:15) Boys Keep Swinging - a bit like Fatboy Slim stuff and then twists into boogie (fun)
7. (2:02) FMP - medium-fast tempo; repetition of mostly fuzz over a rhythm track, some wide-spectrum blasts
8. ***(1:23) Schienenersatzverkehr (alternative transport/ rail replacement transport) - moderate tempo; rhythm track with sounds spinning in and out (reminds me of the the NYC subway at night)
9. (5:17) Lover - animated tempo; very pounding and sexually provocative (“Come on. Be my lover. Be Good. Be my friend. Take my hand.”) and then play ping-pong?
10. (3:40) Glieder (limbs) - relaxed medium-fast tempo; very whispery spoken word above bubblegum musak; mostly harmless
11. (4:13) Biste schon weg (already gone) - whispery spoken word over ‘pot banging’ changing into smoother sounds with random flutterings and echoey voices
12. (2:20) Are you Hungry? - up-tempo; more ping pong bass under spoken word
13. (3:45) Sein (his) - a dotting of sounds with military delivery of spoken word phrases
14. ***(3:39) Backup - interesting array of sounds
