Grand Old Grizzly, Pure Country Pyrite, self released

GOG has been on the country scene around Houston since 2012. Their beginning is classic: some friends got together and made an album at home (in a closet), then decided to bring their music to the people and tour. Fun, upbeat country rock. Best quote I’ve ever heard about music: “If rock & roll ain’t killing you, you probably ain’t doing
It right.” (lyrics in #2). Best for me: 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12. ****TWO FCCS: #1 AND #3****

*1. med/fast - FCC- country rock with catchy guitar
*2. med - a little deeper than your usual upbeat country rock
3. med - FCC - almost a garage band/ early punk sound
4. slow - “Brokedown” is a brokedown ballad
*5. med/fast - more of a rockabilly vibe, fun guitars
6. med - country rock
*7. slow/med - nice vocal quality in nostalgic stories
*8. med/fast - upbeat, fun song 11. med - country rock
*9. med - psych rock tinged country rock
*10. med - irreverent lyrics, jaunty upbeat tune

*12. slow - album ends with a touch of heartbreak in this love ballad
