Marbled Eye are an Oakland post-punk band who play their music with a grim intensity. Their sound is stripped-back and riff-heavy, but they play fast and hard, like a hardcore band. Marbled Eye released their first longplayer after two EPs. " Leisure " contains nine songs that are mostly just under the 3-minute mark. Marbled Eye have a way of combining a Krautrock-style groove with angular, Wire-esque post-punk style riffing and wrapping the whole thing up in great pop songwriting. Post-Punk, Psychedelia Like: Total Control, Parquet Courts, Institute, DIÄT. FCC Clean Play: All 1.Laughing Sound (3:22) Warmer sounding, rawer, strong, anthemic statement. 2.Open Hand (2:55) Rigid, minimal form of post-punk. 3.Leisure (2:57) Audacious guitar licks, moments of dissonance, and monotone vocals. 4.Isle (2:57) Catchy guitar riff with another comprised of dense dissonance 5.Curtain (2:40) Comparatively sparse song with a bouncy bass that recalls Of Montreal. 6.New Crease (2:56) Rides that foreboding intro into a jittery tempo that never truly explode. 7.Idle Hour (2:51) Nice track, strumming and slower. 8.Vanity (2:48) Post-punk with a stoic driving groove. 9.Foundation (4:42) Flouting rockist conventions with equal doses of stark minimalism. | ||
