Review: Saxophonist Avery has been recording for decades both as a leader & as a sideman. On his latest release, he covers a wide range of Coltrane's repertoire, covering several seldom heard pieces. Avery uses one of Coltrane's favorite formats, the quartet, and has put together a stellar formation of like-minded musicians.
