Three extended tracks of organic, slow-morphing ambient music from Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, a renowned drone/ambient producer and co-founder of now-defunct label Root Strata. Aptly titled “Tracing Back the Radiance,” this project is one of Cantu-Ledesma’s gentler, less-noise-inclined releases. A total of 10 studio musicians contributed to this project, forming tracks that are definitively minimal, but possess an undeniable “density.”

All tracks FCC Clean.

RIYL: Lawrence English, Infinite Body, Celer, Tim Hecker, Fennesz

1. (21:10) Rosy and immersive. While the track mostly consists of smooth synth pulses, sparse piano, and lighthanded percussion, there’s plenty of subtle sonic variation and an irresistibly warm glow to draw you in
2. (5:00) Smooth clarinet over a shimmery bed of slow, distorted harp and synth arpeggios
3. (15:30) Hazy, deep space interstellar drone. Beautiful washes of sound punctuated by short fluttering instrumentation, echoey female vocals, and ringing reverb
