This dense, emotive, contemplative, texturally complex drone record is a collaboration between John Kolodij of Ohio and Josh Mason of Florida. It’s meant to evoke the sounds of mid-to-late-nineties DIY post-hardcore shows—specifically the moments of near-silence between songs and after sets. But you don’t need that context to savor the sound here, which is like sinking into a warm bath that happens to be near a small power station. Really reminiscent of Stars of the Lid’s The Tired Sounds of… and The Ballasted Orchestra (huge compliment). Also RIYL Forest Management, Celer, Labradford, Fennesz. Favorites: 3, 4. No words, no FCCs.

1. (6:57)—Static and soft ambient guitar plucking. Low-end vibrations, far-off drums, some noise near the end.
2. (7:58)—Soft pulses. Slightly dissonant drones, distant and viola-like in places. Far-off distortion, metallic low end.
3. *(10:12)—Multiple layers of drone, some watery and some slightly metallic. Gentle to start, builds to noise in the middle, downshifts abruptly and builds again.
4. *(8:59)—Brushed drums? Dense warm drone, distant distorted solo guitar.
