Soul Hymns by Isla Vista Worship is a nontraditional Christian worship album. Most of the tracks have a neo-soul bluesy feel in vocals and instrumentation that make them very different from the rock, pop, or gospel sounds associated with the latest in contemporary worship music. This album reminds me of coffee houses where people sit and chill and listen to great live performances. Overall good album*. Most tracks: Warm, buttery male and or female vocal with piano or keyboard, some guitar, electric synth beat. NO FCCs. Fave tracks: 2**, 3**, 6**. Reviewed by Christina from Lift Jesus Higher!

2** - (5:12) Captured - med/slow tempo. Verses slow, chorus med. Piano, basic tempo with some neo soul synth drum, Male vocal. Blues electric guitar. Contemplative
3** - (5:08) So In Love (B-side) med/slow to med tempo. - Female solo to male chorus to male solo to female solo again ends with both. Piano. Some acoustic guitar.
4* - (5:59) Kindness - medium tempo - Male and female vocal duo. Synth background effect. Groovy, soul bass guitar outro.
5 – (6:41) My Portion - slow tempo- Piano. Strings. Male solo vocal. Only song on the album with this sound.
6** -(4:33) Opened Up The Heavens - med slow to med tempo - Piano, tambourine, male solo vocal with choir accompaniment on chorus.
