Humbolt County based trio led by Sean Casement with his 21 yo son playing drums. Heavy dissonant powerful rock recorded and mixed in Chicago by none other than Steve Albini (Breeders, Pixies, Big Black, Scratch Acid, Nirvana) and it really shows, sounds it. Intense epic rock trio sounding like the finest distillation of the best of the late 80’s and 90’s sent through a contemporary filter that we need so badly now. Top notch guitar, Casement has a long local resume going back 30+ years including SF noise crunch band Tina Age 13, working with Enablers (see current Afile) and a who’s who of local glitterati. Insolent vocal delivery, sneering and angry brings to mind the aforementioned (Yow, Cobain) and God Bullies, Cows. I.e. the best.

Excellent live, their lyrics are poignant: the track Exterminate them documents the largely ignored local genocide that occurred in humbolt, the murder of hundreds of women and children in the later 1800’s perpetrated by men whose name we honor and name buildings and roads after, such as the Hastings School of Law at UC Berkeley. Scum.

FCCs: 3, 5, 6

1)* (4:19) bendy and downtuned near shoegaze if it werent for the full bore wall of sound crunch. 2)* (2:30) upbeat almost, accessible somehow reminds me of new Wire in the vocal delivery. 3) FCCS (4:27) slow intense delivery with bursts reminds me of heavy Breeders Pod and girl band Cakelike, and needless to say Big Black et al. 4) (3:01) “exterminate them”: intense, rockin 5) FCCs (4:26) slow arpeggio feel, intense insane inducing 6) FCCs (3:55) slow plod dissonance 7) (3:02) crazy halting insanity. 8)* (4:29) bendy sliding, dark plodding sick instrumental.
