All instrumental long-form hypno-electronics with organic flavor. From the label: “From a secluded outpost on Nova Scotia's mystical South Shore, junked-analog duo JOYFULTALK conjure micro-climate trance music. The brainchild of instrument builder and alchemist Jay Crocker, joined by multi-instrumentalist Shawn Dicey (Ox, Lab Coast), JOYFULTALK offers up instrumental compositions of analogue tongue that flow like wordless rivers and glitching fields of electric grass through a bric-a-brac vocabulary of handmade electronics.” These three long-form tracks have a strong element of hypnotism incorporating heavy looping and meanderings much like the textured works of seminal guitarist Robert Fripp. Late 90’s electronic outfit Kiril also comes to mind in the melodic elements of synths that sound much more like cellos and drums, symphonies. This is some high end stuff on a high end record label. This has a mid-March street date so this one has “as heard only on kzsu” or thereabouts cred.
1) (7:43) kinda blippy percussive tones looping, string cello type tones join in and it builds with some minimal percussion, layered 2)* (8:50) beat oriented, not house etc mind you, more tribal, cool, play w big stick cd, super cool melodies weave in and out, builds to a heavy near symphonic feel, then falls away, Frippian really 3)** (16:48) picks up on blippy random feel of previous, long form hypnotism involved here, the Fripp trance comes through heavily, again it builds with stronger bass presence, strings, EPIC stuff!
