ALT COUNTRY SINGER-SONGWRITER

The first full-length album from newcomer Kate Mills features good singing and personal; interesting, reflective lyrics. Most songs are written by the artist. A good band includes electric guitar, steel, bass, drums.

No FCC issues

1 ** Mid-fast. Bright & lively but slightly sad. Nice singing. (4:46)
2 ** Mid-tempo. The single. Personal lyrics grapple with life’s regrets. Quite good. (3:38)
3 Mid-tempo. A just-ok cheating song. (4:11)
4 Mid-fast country rock. Sorta cliché and overdone. (3:13)
5 ** Mid-tempo. Keeping focused and moving on in life. Optimistic & pleasant. (3:48)
6 * Mid-tempo. Friend’s drug addiction leads to death. Lilacs are a poignant image. (3:04)
7 Mid-slow. Duet love song. Richly orchestrated. Pretty but just a bit too much. (3:31)
8 Mid-slow. Sappy farewell song in a tedious 3/4 time. (3:29)
9 * Mid-tempo. Big, lush sound. A cast of thousands. There’s even a flute. (4:51)
