LOCAL! Lo-fi dream pop, one of San Francisco's main so-called fog-pop bands. Idyllic and calming, extremely pretty. These pieces are relaxed in sound and casual in presentation (tape hiss and clipping, false starts, open-ended jamming), but the offhand approach belies how skillfully they channel serenity and yearning. RIYL soft Velvet Underground, Slowdive in demo form, Acetone, Grouper, Flowertown. Favorites: 1, 3, 6, 8. No FCCs detected.

1. *(5:35)—Very slow, drumless, drifting, wistful. Music for waking up slowly. Wispy faded harmonies.
2. (5:59)—Slow. False start (tape overdub) at 20 seconds. Sunny, peaceful. Gentle ringing guitars.
3. *(2:46)—Medium-slow. Prominent simple drum machine beat. Big, lovely choruses.
4. (5:22)—Very slow. Sluggish drum machine beat. Low, half-buried singing.
5. (4:31)—Mid-tempo, danceable. Thick low-end on the beat, high synths, guitar echoes.
6. *(5:03)—Medium-slow, shoegazey. Shaker rhythm, really beautiful groove.
7. (3:16)—Medium-slow baggy feel. Samples from what sound like an old TV show.
8. *(8:16)—Very slow guitar instrumental. Dreamy, droning ambient loop.
9. (5:19)—Very slow. Similar to track 1 but harmonica soloing and cleaner recording.
