Experimental/Noise from Taiwan: Fangyi Liu & Shanyio split the first half as solo acts and close with a collaborative 28-minute remix. While generally in the more spaced-out and introspective realms of noise, amplified cutlery and tiny electronics lend a warm, almost rustic charm to avant-garde alien transmissions. Bonus points for using radios as instruments. For fans of ‘80s Merzbow, Throbbing Gristle, dropping a bunch of silverware on the floor. Instrumental/FCC clean
Track 1: Fangyi Liu; 2-13: Shanyio; 14: Fangyi Liu & Shanyio
1. (28:45) Scruffy, buzzing bleeps and bloops build up into walls of noise and fall apart again.
2. (01:05) Scraping a fork against a blown-out microphone. Feedback.
3. (01:57) Apparently this one is also with a fork, but it just sounds like the mic is broken, but in a cool way.
4. (01:49) Literally just a knife clanging against a busted mic.
5. (02:03) Fork and spoon + Korg monotron synth.
6. (06:01)** Bottle opener with some insane distorted synth, like R2D2 getting hacked by ransomware.
7. (03:04)* Synth with a fork, sounds like it’s tangled in a slinky.
8. (01:03) Fork sounding like a distorted kalimba.
9. (01:20) You can tell this one is a spoon.
10. (03:35) Knife and monotron in split stereo tracks.
11. (01:38) Now the spoon sounds like it’s in a simmering saucepan.
12. (02:03) Spoon with flanged effect sounds like it’s in a wind tunnel.
13. (03:05) Sounds of cooking, serving, eating soup with looping radio in the background
14. (28:46)*** “Subliminal Duo Mix” of both artists above mixed together somehow.
