“Thank You!” The Real Numbers
San Francisco-based power pop band with its 4th album (and first since 2015). Eight years in the making, with a long and winding road to release that included hard drives dying, band members marrying and moving away, starting families and landing other gigs. But the quartet led by Dave Ambrose and Lawrence Grodeska persisted, and the result (almost named Finally!) is “Thank You!” This is solid power pop and “geek rock” with “powerful hooks, lush chords, smart lyrics and heaps of harmony.” RIYL: Weezer, Jukebox the Ghost, Fountains of Wayne or Barenaked Ladies.

5. (4:09) News Of The Day — Slower-tempo sway with lilting, often harmonized vocals over keys and a simple rhythm track.
6. (3:41) Sorry For The Mess — Edgy guitar rock. Biting lyrics that are a commentary on some of the troubling issues facing the world today. ***
7. (3:57) Hello World — Swingy ballad with shimmering keys and sentimental, grateful vocals. Jazzy guitar in the lead break.
8. (3:11) You, Me, And The Sunshine — Quaint stroll. Wistful lyrics and vocals, harmonized in the choruses. Fabulous clarinet solo in the lead break! ***

10. (4:33) Spin — Guitar rock with a strong backbeat and prominent bass line that gives it a bounce. Soaring guitar solo starting in the lead break and continuing to the end.
11. (5:47) Souvenirs — A goodbye. Halting and sad. Strummed acoustic guitar, organ, keys, strings and emotive vocals. Builds into an anthem. ***
