This is an old 4AD band (this record dates from 1981)-- at its best, dirgey dark post-punk with vocals that sound vaguely like Johnny Rotten (although without ANY of the cynicism. Still, you could play songs here next to songs from Second Edition). The songs are actually pretty fast, in particular the great Fatal Day, 11 minutes of buildup with a climax to die for. The final four tracks were released with the CD, and recorded years later (and are more dance-y, like they might fit with '80s Clan of Xymox, perhaps). As far as I know, this album disappeared into out-of-print, and was reissued only a few years ago.
Rec: 9, 10, 7, 8, 1, 2. The rec tracks are all essential.
