Either/Or

Midtempo folky acoustic indie pop. But if you're pulling this album, you probably already knew that. You've probably heard several of Elliott Smith's albums, and know the words to several of his songs by heart. Maybe you wrote RIP ELLIOTT <3<3 on your Facebook status on the anniversary of his death. Maybe you even have a blog in which half of the post titles are lines from Elliott Smith songs, and maybe in that blog is an album of you in LA standing in front of his memorial wall; the title of that post was probably “So glad to meet you, Angeles” or “LA – things I've never done, cars parked in the sun.” So yeah, you don't need to read this. Just play this fucking FCC edited album, hipster. Every song on this album is very solid, but I'd pick 12, 9, 4, 2, 8

1) Smoldery syncopated song
2) * Melancholy, haunted song at a very much walking tempo
3) A little more driving, heavier drums
4) * Quiet, wistful 3/4
5) Louder, bouncy
6) More subdued, quiet song. Picks up later in the song.
7) Real syncopated and again bouncy
8) * Subdued, melancholy
9) * Fast song, real nice fingerpicking, again haunted
10) Starts quiet, builds into driving, angsty song with repeating chorus and hcore electric guitars
11) Quiet, sparse, subdued acoustic song. Very simple structure.
12) *** Oh God such a good song. Starts with just acoustic guitar and voice, adds several layers, builds to end.
