Big band! But with Andrew's touch -- "normal" sounding jazz with tangled, complex elements in the composing and plenty of room for outside solos, or for untethered group soloing.

Excellent stuff, recorded live at Birdland in NYC. It's great to see Andrew put out new albums, and even nicer to see that he had the budget to get this band together.

*1- Fast! with cool choppy piano solo
2- Slow and pretty, with flutes
*3- Kind of a Spanish flair. Dramatic, brassy.
*4- Fast and weirdly disjoint. Burbly
5- Mid/slow swing with strange rhythms, an off-kilter groove
6- Lots of fast untethered soloing. Includes a mood-killing tuba solo early on.
*7- Slow and pretty, but packs some power.
8- Andrew says good night to the crowd.
