KZSU Music Department Reviewed 2002-12-14 | ||
Mellow Instrumental Rock These guys chuck out vocals but add in a vibraphone, keyboard, and computer synth effects to the traditional 3 piece rock band. The result is some of the most pleasant chilling music ever. While not conveying a message per se, these guys do excellent job of creating moods using their weapons of composition. Most of the songs are a bit long -- tracks 4 and 7 are shorter. Track 7 is my top recommendation. No lyrics of course means no FCC violations! -Kris Havlak (post rock) One-- Moody with lots of variations on a few simple beats. Two -- Alternates between seemingly lullaby music and harder rock Three -- As the name implies, this gives the feeling of drifting along a quiet brook or some such relaxing activity. Four -- Heavier bass and kick drum creates cool beat. Melody somewhat repetative. Five -- Repetative vibraphone part. Six -- A very respectable composition that both moves and avoids monotony. Constrasting bass and vibraphone parts kick butt. Seven -- Similar to track six but shorter and packs a punch. Eight -- This starts with some energy and slowly fades out, providing a good end to the CD and perhaps to the show. |
