Drummer Lopez in a series of duets, all Rahsaan Roland Kirk covers. Very abstract/improv in nature -- on a few of these, it's hard to believe there's a connection to the original song. Fun stuff, though, mostly twisted and a little playful. Lopez has a different sparring partner on each track: 1*- Thierry Modiot on trombone. Happy goofy whistling sounds. 2*- Emmanuel Bex on Hammond organ. Choppy, chaotic fun. 3- Chim Nwabueze: voice & musical saw. Poetry, then quiet scrapes/squeaks. 4*- Benot Achiary, voice. A joyous explosion of wordless vocal and drums. 5- Noel Akchote on guitar. VERY quiet, gongs and a small background roar. 6*- Harry Beckett on trumpet. Spritely, jazzy. 7- Joelle Leandre on bass. Folky-sad-abstract. 8- Andrea Newmann on electronics. Noisy with lots of pauses. Annoying. 9*- Majid Bekkas on vocals and guembri. Develops a cool little "world" groove. |
