COLL: Richie Hawtin & Sven Vath – 3rd Season Label: Novamute This is a fantastic mix-CD by two of the legends of techno – Richie Hawtin & Sven Vath, as they are recorded live in Ibiza. This is not your typical Euro-trance stuff you’d find in Ibiza. No, no. This is some of the most bangin’ techno/electro/retro stuff you’ll hear. Lots of huge distorted analog synths, lots of multi-layered bangin’ beats. Best sections of this mix-CD: 4-7, 13-15. 1. Recording of conversations, hanging out 2. Spacey minimal techno w/ trance-y blurps 3. Percussive layers, stripped down electro-tech-y 4. Retro techno – big synths & drones, big analog basslines 5. Grinding bassline & ass-kicking techno-drone buildups – killer 6. Simple loops, distorted & twisted water-y effects, big bassline – nice dirty techno 7.
