Chamber jazz in warm, formal tones, with electric bass and some electric guitar. Cheerful throughout; might even be more fusion-y if the band didn't have so many acoustic instruments (horns, piano). |
It's along the lines of the "acoustic fusion" sound on Henry Threadgill's two 2002 albums.
Prog geeks should check the booklet for some twisty time-signature explanations.
1*- Brash stacatto opening, into relaxed & rolling piece. Acoustic guitar and electric bass-- feels odd on the ears.s
2- Pleasant, short
3- Happy cocktail bop, mildly Latin
5- Kinda sparse, for noon. Lone baritone sax & distant percussion
6- Happy quartet interlude
7*- Loud, a bit fast and brash.
9- Slow/mid cheeriness
10*- Fast, like acoustic fusion (w/ a quiet stretch)
11- Slow, in long warm tones
