Dark, kinda gothic, mellow, soft, female, choir-like layered vox. Trippy at times. All the electronics create a very deep atmosphere that allows her voice to come through very clearly. And it’s a beautiful voice! The drawback to it is that the tracks seem to melt into one-another, creating this seemingly endless loop of trance-y electronica. That’s aided by the unchanging tempo of the songs, and the never-ending choir passages, and the several filler “interlude” tracks. Nonetheless, it’s a cool CD, with cool lyrics, nice vocals, and it can be a bit catchy at times. Also, it’s supposed to tell a story, fully illustrated in the booklet, but not in our promo version.
Recommended Tracks:
3. Mellow, cool, very soothing, but not very much unlike the rest of the CD
7. A lot more energetic, esp. a few minutes into it, where it gathers up steam, so to speak.
9. Just some chanting, but sounds a bit like little children, so that’s an automatic bonus.
12. More variety, more energy, more variety.
13. Best for last, eh? Her voice shines on this, and the instrumentation is excellent, sounding kinda Middle-Eastern, very solid piece.
I wouldn’t play it past midnight. It’s guaranteed to make you doze off.
