Yay, three bands to review for the price of one, how cool! (sarcasm mode turned off). I hate shit like this. Compilation albums should either have a shitload of bands, or just two (splits). No in-between ground. Which woulda worked fine on here, seeing as how only two of these bands are worth anything... read on.
Blind Myself –- Cool, angry metal from Hungary. Hey these guys are my almost-neighbors! Good sounds, screamed vocals from three different people, great guitar tone, and awesome melodies to end the songs. Kinda sound like Cryptopsy at times, or Neurosis, but on speed. Song construction is a lot more traditional rock, though. All three tracks are good, play ‘em all.
WiLt –- Semi-decent hardcore metal with the obligatory staccato riffs, nice drums with excellent double bass, and screamed vocals. The vocalist actually reminds me of Burton C. Bell, esp. on the clean vox, but has nowhere near the same range. Typical silly hardcore lyrics/themes. Pretty average stuff, nothing to write home about.
Human Decline –- Ah, now we’re talking. These guys from Brooklyn fuckin’ own (gotta support the home scene, ya know?). Speedy riffs, screamed vocals, excellent melodies during the slower parts of the songs. Great combination of NYHC and aggro/metal, works for me. Play this.
Bottom line: Definitely worth adding and playing, but only for two bands.
