Your Imaginary Friend Reviewed 2003-03-05 | ||
Oh boy is this ever good! All girl sassy post punk flavored new wavey rock. Think X-ray spex, slits, gang of four, early B-52s, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, Gary Myrick put in a blender on high. One othe the girls is either a boy or shes got a deeper voice than me (?). Rough around the edges a la Cakelike. Retro in flavor yet certainly cutting edge. 1) post punk w/ electroclash feel despite total lack of synths 2) driving punky, lets pogo! 3) slower, chorused, guit a la Gary Myrick 4) mid paced, dual voc action 5) takes 8 seconds to start, chunky Gang of Fourish 6) epic chorus-wooo! 7) different production, reverbed back vocs 8) tom tom jungle beat, mellower, arty 9) “new wave punk” fer sure fer sure, lets pogo! 10) new wave feel, mid-slow feel 11) driving chunky punky |
