Another set of upbeat modern bop from the popular drummer. Enjoyable and accessible, with the occasional goofy twist that he's known for. The Bay Area version of Wilson is Scott Amendola, another likeable drummer who writes upbeat modern jazz. But Amendola adds more of a world-music influence and the occasional Nels Cline freak-out. If you like Wilson's stuff, give Amendola a listen -- and vice-versa. 1*- Midtempo, happy; ends on a reflective note (a tribute to late drummer Higgins) 2*- Playful, sneaky odd time signature 3- Floaty abstract experiment 4*- Fast and snappy 5- Peaceful 6*- Stormy Balkan feel 7- Soft, abstract 8- Midtempo chugger, w/spazz-outs 9- Slow, bluesy 10- Midtempo, blazing 11- Slow horns & hyper drums 12- Slow and pretty | ||
