Local poly-instrumentalist (violin, accordion, voice, zither, et al), poly-associated (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Tin Hat Trio, et al), poly-sylistic (improv, prog, jazz, classical, art song, et al) Kihlstedt puts together here a set of her own compositions. These tracks are mostly her with a percussionist and a cellist. Styles range from quiet and reflective to angry to joyful. Amy Denio might be a more familiar exponent of a similar try-everything ethos. An excellent collection of songs.
1. Catchy, with nice vocals
2. Folksy picking and strumming - of violin
3. Jazzy vamp with melodica honking
4. Violin and voice both play staccato syllables
5. Tentative and beautiful
6. Searing, questioning, anxious
7. Delicate
8. Bluesy mood
9. Very simple and straightforward, like a children's song
10. Chukka-chukka rhythm under a mature melody and poetic lyrics
11. Pained scratching and screaming
12. Big, proud chorus
