Southern California quartet of sax, trumpet, bass and drums. Nice composition-based jazz that pivots on "outside" elements. They're able to play with blazing post-bop fury, but most of the album is devoted to patient creation of space (i.e. slower, thoughtful stuff). Very nice.
1- Slow start, into skronky restrained sax solo. Overall slow feel.
2- Quiet and delicate, with agile fast playing
3*- High-energy sax solo; calmer trumpet solo
4*- Slow w/steady beat
5*- Complex and swingy, after improv intro
6- Midtempo groove
