Rob McColley "Juicy" - Ok, so if you look at the pictures in the insert you'll see that this guy is a total freak. And while the songs are sometimes also very weird, I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this. It's filled with some great hooks and some wonderfully lush backup vocals. Mostly songs consist of your basic guitar (often acoustic), drums, and keyboards, but there are some great uses of flute and trumpet too! Most songs are good but here are some of the standouts?
My Picks: 1, 4 (sex lyrics warning), 10
Katie P. 8/4/03

1) Uptempo loungy pop number. It also has a good spy/Austin Powers feel to it. This is so odd. Nice female backing vocals and great horns.
2) Starts with drums and adds piano. Solid midtempo with a nice hook. It's also still really laid back and mellow.
3) Slowly fades in with keyboard blips and then some guitar strumming. Vocals are slightly distorted at the beginning. Builds in intensity throughout most of the song.
4) Uptempo and kind of bouncy. Ok, this is funny. It's got a great chorus "Gay sex with men!" with backup "ba-ba-ba." Oh man. This is killing me! Warning: so no actual bad words, but it does go into some detail about sex. I don't think it crosses the line, but if you're worried I wouldn't play it.
5) Ooo, cool beat. Feels like a 6/8 time. Very laid back and dreamy feeling but at a faster tempo.
6) Midtempo with guitars and drums and hey, that's a flute. Drums and guitar are really repetitive, but it works for this. The flute is a really nice touch.
7) Slow dragging midtempo. Imagine if you wrote an angry song about your Ex but had a lot of trouble coming up with different words to describe the person. Yep. This is weird. Fcc: says "cunt" over and over again (it's part of the chorus).
8) Faster midtempo. Kind of a western/country sounding song with way bizarre lyrics.
9) Cute flutes, horns, and a nice guitar line. Happy and fun uptempo tune that has an easy-listening feel to it.
10) Uptempo guitar strumming. Happy and fun. This is really nice (perhaps a little cheesy but I think it works).
