Lots of fast solos, usually with one member taking the fore and the others providinga loose, open backdrop. Different personalities at work here ... 1 and 9 are like regular jazz, while 6,7,8 are a chamber-music suite written by Dave Douglas.
*- Old style swingy with some crazy-fast solos, especially on guitar. Mid/fast, happy.
*- Strong chamber start, very open feel for rapid abstract soloing
- Slow beat, mildly Asian feel. Starts with a bass solo.
- Upbeat, spritely. With a slower abstract interlude in the middle.
- Placid guitar start, very pretty melody. Yuppie/ECM'ish. Peaceful.
- Fast pulse, almost like Philip Glass
- Slow and swirling'
- Peaceful, classical-sounding
*- Mid-fast, spritely gypsy jazz
